Chulu West Peak Climbing

Chulu West Peak Climbing Chulu West is the higher peak, of the two Chulus (East and West) . A Japanese Expedition team, who had climbed that peak first time in 1952. It  lies in a small valley north of Manang; off the main trail to the Thorong La. Chulu East had  climbed by a German Expedition team in 1955 via the North East Ridge. Thus, it is difficult to differentiate between the two Chulus. However, the Chulu group comprises of four peaks: Two in the east and two in the west.

There are no technical difficulties in ascending these peaks but the progress can be slow as the slopes are vulnerable to avalanches in certain conditions. These peaks are situated  together with forms an integral part of the Manang Himal, which in turns is included in the Larger Damodar Himal.

Chulu West Peak Climbing Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, day at leisure

Day 02: Free day or sightseeing

Day 03: Kathmandu drive to Beshi Sahar (823m)

Day 04: Beshi Sahar - Syange (110m)

Day 05: Syange to Tal (2110m)

Day 06: Tal to Timang (2700m)

Day 07: Timang - Chame (2713)

Day 08: Chame - Pisang (3185m)

Day 09: Pisang - Manang (3351m)

Day 10: Acclimatization day visit local village and Buddhist Monastary.

Day 11: Manang - Letdar (4250m)

Day 12: Letdar - Base Camp at (4950m)

Day 13: Climb - high camp (5600m)

Day 14: Summit (6419m) and return to High Camp

Day 15: High Camp - Letdar via Base Camp

Day 16: Letdar - Throng Phedi (4480m) or High Camp (4700m)

Day 17: Throng Phedi /High Camp - Muktinath (3802m) via Throng la pass (5416m)

Day 18: Muktinath to Jomsom (2713m)

Day 19: Jomsom fly back Pokhara (820m)

Day 20: Pokhara - Fly or drive to Kathmandu

Day 21: Free day for shopping

Day 22: Drive to Airport for flying your own destination
