Chulu West Peak Climbing Chulu West is the higher peak, of the two Chulus (East and West) . A Japanese Expedition team, who had climbed that peak first time in 1952. It  lies in a small valley north of Manang; off the main trail to the Thorong La. Chulu East had  climbed by a German Expedition team in 1955 via the North East Ridge.
